History
The TTA tank wagons were introduced by BR in the 1960s, with 1000s built to replace ageing tank wagons of smaller capacity that it had inherited from private-owner fleets. Used to transport oil and petroleum products, they were still being built into the 1970s, with the last remaining in service until the early 2000s.
