Whether running intermodal, aggregate, or fuel trains, these locomotives can be paired with an impressive selection of rolling stock to enhance your layout, including IFA, KFA & MGR wagons.
TTA wagons, frequently used for fuel transport, also compliment the Class 66, allowing a realistic and visually striking freight formation.
History
Built in 2000, this is one of 28 machines in the sub-class 66/6 operated by Freightliner, six of which have since moved to its Poland operating subsidiary, Railfreight PL. These locomotives have a lower gear ratio, enabling heavier trains to be hauled, albeit at a reduced maximum speed of 65mph. The locomotive was named ‘Derek W. Johnson MBE’ after the Chairman of Johnson Stevens Agencies Ltd., who placed the winning bid to name it at the Freightliner 40th Anniversary dinner, in February 2006.
